Happy Halloween

A few months ago Em started telling us that she wanted to be a pumpkin for Halloween. Okay, we thought, that is an easy one. We would ask her again every now and then and she stood firm to her pumpkin costume. One day, not too long ago, I showed her a pumpkin costume and asked her what she thought. Yes, but where is the purple skirt? She asked. Hmmm, not quite as easy as we thought. Luckily she has a G.G. who will do anything for her, and so Em and G.G. sat down and designed the first- ever Purple Pumpkin Costume.

Now given that this is Emily, she of course had to add her own flair to it.

She got lots of comments, let me tell you. She loved trick-or treating and thought it was just about the greatest thing ever. One of the first doors she went to a little Winnie the Pooh and Tigger opened the door. She said trick-or- treat and got her candy, and as she turned to leave the little Tigger held out his bucket to her and said, so cutely, Trick or treat. Not sure what to do Em reached in her bag and pulled out a piece of candy and put it in his bucket. I love that girl. She would announce after each house that she got candy and made sure to tell each person Happy Halloween!! Even the guy in the scary mask got a cheerful greeting because of course you can't really be all that scary if you are giving out free candy. Our little farmer boy joined us for some of the trip before it got too cold and his Daddy took him home.

A little pirate even joined the party later that evening to help Em pass out candy to the neighbors.

It was a very fun Halloween, especially after the stomach bug-filled week we had endured! So glad we didn't miss it, and I am so glad we are all finally better again!
