Dear Troy,

Dear Troy,

Today you turned 1. I stopped for a minute to remember the day you were born and realized even on the day of your birth you were considerate and thoughtful. You waited for a Friday afternoon to be born so no one would have to miss work. You came close to your due date so Mommy didn't have to  waddle around any longer. You were born within a few hours of us getting to the hospital so Dr. Kort didn't have to stay late on a Friday night, and you slept in my arms with barely a peep, just happy to be with us. You truly are an amazing baby. Your sweetness takes my breath away daily, and your smile lights up entire rooms. You are such a happy little guy. So content to just be.

You are one of the most patient babies I have ever known. You will sit in your chair waiting for food until Mommy finally gets it done, without any yelling. Just a big smile when you finally get it. You have the greatest laugh, one of those full belly laughs that you use every time your sister does something. Today it was rolling toy cars down the slide that had you laughing out loud, and the rest of us laughing along with you. You do cry. You do not like to get hurt and your little bottom lip sticks all the way out and those fat baby tears roll down your cheeks, but usually a big hug will do the job, and you are off to play again.

These days you are a little mover, you took your first steps 2 days ago and haven't really done it since then. You have, however, climbed on the table everyday this week. Friday you sat in a chair at the little table and ate your snack with the big kids, you were so proud of yourself.

It was such a busy, crazy, changing year that has marked your first year of life. Daddy got a new job, you are constantly being "taken care of" by your big sister, you and I traveled to Oregon and then Washington, and we all went to San Diego, and you have grown up in a house full of toddlers telling you what to do and always running faster than you. But you survived this first year. Not only that but you thrived! You grew from a tiny infant to a busy little toddler. We love you so much and can not wait to see what this next year will bring for you. Happy Birthday my little man.

Love,
Mommy, Dadddy and Emmie
