For the 4th we went camping. This is becoming somewhat of a tradition around here and now in the second year the amount of us pitching tents in good 'ol Colorado has grown. Oh, well it has doubled. Which means double the fun. Right? One of the best things about these trips is that we save the group photo for the last day. Ha! It really captures the "essence" of the trip. No touch-ups, no make-up, no sleep. But still smiling.
We knew we were camping in CO because we had RAIN. The first night. While trying to set up our tents. But after that the weather was pretty good to us. Lots of sunshine and plenty of heat made sure that no one got to sleep in too late. We made the ever-wise decision to cut out a night early. Ty and I figured 2 nights with 2 kids in 1 tent was enough for us so we headed back Sunday night and were safely in our house when the biggest storm hit. We gladly watched the hail and flooding from the comfort of our couch. Not so much for the rest of my family but they all survived. I would say that is the story of the trip, but it turns out a little rain, wind, and thunder holds nothing compared to a BEAR visit in the early morning hours. Glad we weren't there for that!
Did I mention Steve and Brooke flew in from SD just to camp with us! At least I think it was Steve.
