Warning: The text below contains many gushy, biased, proud- mommy statements which may not be suitable for all eyes.
Saturday. Saturday Emily had another dance class, and until you are a parent you don't really understand what a treat it can be to see your child interact outside of their normal realm. Normal meaning your house with your rules and guidelines and ever watchful eyes. This is the big test. Well I can only tell you that I was very proud of my little girl as I watched her in her class. It wasn't just that she patiently waited her turn, it wasn't only that she was kind and considerate with the other girls and listened attentively to the teacher. It was also that she was still a little goofy, (herself), even in a room full of strangers. She took risks and tried things that the other girls wouldn't. She didn't get embarrassed or frustrated when she messed up, she just smiled and tried it again. And she did it all with such excitement it made me want to be out there dancing with her. You always hope as a parent that the values and lessons you try to instill in your kids will carry over into all parts of their lives. Even when you are not there telling them what or how to do something. It sure is nice to be witness to it when it happens.
