Estes Park

This last weekend we went with our friends up to Estes Park which is about 2 1/2 hours away from the Springs. It was a beautiful weekend. Lots of sunshine and great temperatures. All of the Aspens were turning and it just felt like fall. Kim was kind enough to coordinate renting a house for all of us. When I say all of us I mean three couples and 5 kids under the age of 3! It sounds like madness, and at some points in the weekend it was, but for the most part it was a really fun weekend. The house was nice and big so that kids had their own rooms and although this sounds like a recipe for people getting sleep I am not sure how much we all got. The kids took turns keeping the parents up, but we can always sleep when they are older right? No really, we will get to sleep again at some point right?

On Saturday we loaded everyone up and went to see the Stanley Hotel. It is apparently where the movie The Shining was written and where the mini-series was shot. Like most old hotels it is said to be haunted. We didn't see any ghosts when we were there but we did have a nice time exploring the grounds.

After lunch and naps we headed out again to a little playground close by and the girls (and parents) had fun playing on all of the equipment.

That night the girls got to frost sugar cookies (thanks kim!) and then snuggled up together to watch a movie while we adults got to sit down to a nice dinner (thanks Helen)! We even got to end the evening with all the kids in bed and us adults sitting out by the campfire.
