Jack | 7 Years Old

Happy Birthday Jack-Jack,

You are 7 years old today! That means 7 hugs and 7 kisses tonight, or for you 8 hugs and 8 kisses because you are always looking forward to the next year, to being older. You are growing up so fast and I know you have been counting down the days until today, but I like to pretend for a second that time isn't flying by, and remind you about who you are today as a brand-new 7 year old. You Little Man,  still have enough confidence to last you a lifetime. You have never doubted your abilities or that things wouldn't work out and so far that has taken you a long ways. Even when something doesn't go quite the way you wanted you figure it out and find another way. You dive in head first and figure out if you can swim after, but that is who you have always been. I wish I had your determination and love for life. You love school, your friends, your teacher, your brother and sister, being at home, playing every game there is to play. Sports, skiing, swimming, riding bikes and scooters. Dancing, singing, laughing. You don't even mind bedtime or bath time too much. Homework might be the only activity you don't like doing, but you still do that with very little protest. You love to read, and just finished your first chapter book (Diary of a Wimpy Kid). I Spy books are your favorite and you just started playing soccer again and have gotten really good at it. (It must be the awesome coach you have).  You still like to be held and snuggle and I will take that for as long as you will let me. You are in a phase where you ask questions about everything, which is great, but you love to ask the most difficult ones right at bedtime or when we are walking out the door for school. Why do we have fingers and toes? How does a car work? Who invented this? You are smart. Math comes naturally for you right now and you can add or subtract numbers in your head pretty fast! You are into play Chess (you call it Chest) and I love watching you figure out the next move or try to anticipate where I will move. You are a goofball. You love to laugh, you like to be tickled, you think Troy and Easton are hilarious (they think the same of you) and we are working on using less fart noises and conversations that include the word butt. It's a work in progress. You are amazing and sweet and cute (which you know). You are adored by your teachers and friends, your family, most of the office staff at school, and random people you have charmed without even meaning to. We love you so much kid. We are in awe of who you are and who you are becoming with each passing year. Remember to be kind, always. To listen, especially to your poor teacher. And to keep being the coolest, most awesome kid that we love so much. Happy happy birthday Jack-Attack. We love you to the edge of the universe and to every planet and every house and every star in the solar system.

Love,

Mommy & Daddy
