Emily has been taking a gymnastics/ballet/tap class once a week for awhile now. Last week Riley happened to join her class as a make-up and Emily was thrilled! She is very serious in ballet and tap and concentrates pretty hard on listening to the teacher and getting the moves right. She loves to use all of the lingo later when she is dancing at home. "Mommy! Watch me do an arabesque!" or "Mommy, this is a releve." I usually just take her word for it, but since I had to look up how to spell those words I found she was, or course, using the terms correctly.
Gymnastics is a different story. For 30 minutes straight she bounces. She bounces while the teacher is giving them instructions. She bounces over to each station, she does the move, then is right back to bouncing. We have had to work on her waiting her turn because she moves through each station at lightening speed she usually "laps" all the other girls. She has gotten better at not pushing in front of the others but she usually will just go do an empty station until it is her turn because she can't stand still long enough to wait. Needless to say she enjoys her dance class, and makes her teachers earn every penny of what we pay!
