We took a bit of a chance renting skis and buying lift tickets for two kiddos who had never been skiing before. When we left our house it was cold and snowy and miserable but we drove on anyway. Traffic had us at a stand still which caused us to get to the mountain right at lunch time, but we weren't turning back at that point. The first run was a bit shaky and the whining started, but a few PB&Js and some granola bars and it was a whole new game. Emily and Troy, along with their friends, skied their little hearts out for the rest of the day. Em and Holden were riding the lift on their own by the end and skiing down the hill like pros. Troy would hit the top of the run and yell out, "look out below!" before taking his turn down the mountain. At 4:00pm they closed the lifts with our kids standing at the fence begging for one more run. It still amazes me every time how much better these experiences are with your kids than they have ever been alone. Ty put it best when he said it was his very best ski day ever. This coming from a guy who only got to board down a bunny hill all day. It was a good thing we decided to take a chance. That is how some of the best memories are made.
